Dwayne Haskins was born on May 3, 1997, in Highland Park, New Jersey. He was introduced to football at an early age by his father, Dwayne Haskins Sr., a former college football player. Young Dwayne quickly developed a passion for the sport and spent countless hours practicing in his backyard.

In high school, Haskins emerged as one of the nation's top quarterback prospects. He led his team, Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland, to three straight Maryland state championships and was named the Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior.

Collegiate Career at Ohio State

Haskins committed to play for Ohio State University in 2016. As a redshirt freshman in 2017, he backed up J.T. Barrett and helped the Buckeyes win the Big Ten Championship.

In 2018, Haskins took over the starting quarterback position and exploded onto the college football scene. He set numerous school records, including passing yards (4,831),touchdowns (50),and passing efficiency (191.2). Haskins led the Buckeyes to a 13-1 record, including a berth in the Rose Bowl, and finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting.

NFL Career and Legacy

Haskins was selected 15th overall by the Washington Redskins in the 2019 NFL Draft. He started 13 games as a rookie and showed flashes of his potential but also faced some struggles. In 2020, he was benched in favor of Alex Smith and ultimately traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With the Steelers, Haskins served as a backup quarterback to Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph. He started one game in 2021 and completed 6 of 13 passes for 63 yards.
